Ollie Cantos on the Next Marlaina Program

On the next marlaina program, please help me make welcome Ollie Cantos,
Special Council to the Assistant Attorney General Civil Rights Division of
the United States Department of Justice. Ollie is a warm and vibrant human
being, and one who does not allow his blindness to stand in the way of the
things he desires to achieve.

Though Ollie and I have not yet personally met, we have shared
correspondence while setting up this program. I'm sure you'll agree with me
that Ollie is someone worth knowing and spending time with. He's agreed to
remain with us for as long as your calls dictate, up to the end of the
program. I believe he will make a fascinating guest, and encourage you to
participate with your questions and comments. With the discussion of the
ADA Restoration Act looming large in disability circles, this show couldn't
have come at a better time.

It's a wrap!

The convention coverage for this year's ACB Convention is now over. But we
know you've probably missed something you wanted to hear, so we're providing
you with opportunities to hear material again over the next 3 days.

At 04:00 GMT, which is 11 pm US Central time, we'll begin rerunning Friday's
sessions and the banquet. Here is an approximate schedule:

You won't get to hear a lot of the final banquet airing unfortunately, as at
01:00 GMT (8 pm US Central) we switch to rerunning the entire convention
from start to finish. I will post approximate times for the various session
repeats later on today.

Convention update

The business of the convention has concluded. We are now rerunning the
first part of this morning's session. This will run until midnight GMT,
which is 7 pm US Central time, when we cross back to the convention for the
banquet. Of interest at the banquet this year will be the presentation of
some awards, some prize drawings, and a speech from Sir Colin Low of the
United Kingdom. At 04:00 GMT (11 pm US Central), we will commence repeats
of the entirety of Friday's programs. I will post approximate start times
for the session repeats after the banquet, but I can tell you that the first
full repeat of Friday morning will be at 04:00 GMT (11 pm US Central) and
the first repeat of Friday afternoon will follow at about 08:10 GMT (3:10 am
US Central time). The first banquet repeat will be at approximately 12:20
GMT (7:20 am US Central time). Friday's material will continue running
until our usual program start time of 1 GMT (8 pm US Central) on Sunday. At
this point, we will start replaying the entire convention for two days until
01:00 GMT on Tuesday, when we will resume our regular broadcasts.
Approximate start times for each day's coverage will be posted tomorrow.

Three Elections Decided at the ACB Convention

It's been another exciting Friday on ACB Radio Mainstream.

The ACB has a new President - Mitch Pomerantz of California took out 59% of
the vote. We also have new first and second vice-Presidents, Kim Charlson
and Brenda Dillon. The race for second VP was close, with only something
like 15 votes in it (if memory serves). We also were able to have a quick
word with the new ACB President whilst everyone was on the hunt for lunch.
The session finished late, so the next session will resume later than
scheduled. Our broadcasts will resume however at approximately 18:10 GMT
(1:10 PM US Central time), and we will have an interview for you to fill in
the time until the next session begins.

The afternoon session promises more intrigue. We have 3 candidates for
secretary, currently only 1 candidate for treasurer, and we also now have a
vacancy on the ACB Board of Directors to be filled. All of this needs to be
sorted out before 22:00 GMT (5 PM US Central time), so there's sure to be
plenty to keep our interest.

And don't forget the ACB Banquet later on today (details to be posted
later).

Repeat schedule for convention coverage

The Candidates Forum has concluded, which concludes our broadcasts for
Thursday. As promised here is the repeat schedule for Thursday's
broadcasts. All times are approximate.

* 03:00 GMT (10 pm US Central): Thursday morning session
* 07:00 GMT (2 am US Central): Candidates Forum
* 9:30 GMT (4:30 am US Central): Thursday morning session

And as they say in radio, that's all we've got time for. Our live

Convention coverage update

Thursday morning's session of the 46th ACB Convention is done and dusted.

This morning's session included an update from ACB Executive Director
Melanie Brunson, a presentation from the lawyer involved in the ACB
accessible money case, and consideration of a number of very interesting
resolutions. We will begin repeating this session as usual at 18:00 GMT,
that's 1 pm US Central time. Repeats will only run till 23:45 GMT (6:45 pm
US Central), because we will then pause for live coverage of the 2007
Candidates Forum. This will be your chance to hear from candidates who have
declared themselves as running for ACB executive positions. Questions have
been taken from ACB Radio listeners in previous years, so if you're
interested in asking a question of any of the candidates, tune in. We
cannot of course guarantee that your question will be able to be asked, but
if it is possible, we will do it.

We will resume our convention replays at 10 pm US Central time, which is
03:00 GMT. The Thursday session will run first, with the candidates forum
repeating at approximately 7 GMT (2 am US central time). There will
probably be time for another airing of the Thursday session before we go
live at our usual time, but since I don't know how long the candidates forum
broadcast will be, I can't give you an approximate start time. I'll post
about this after the candidates forum.

We hope that you will join us for the Candidates Forum and all the
excitement of tomorrow. Oh and for those who particularly want to hear the

Friends in art showcase of talent anual transcode

Some of you may know that ever since 2004, I, using the phosilitys of my
own internet radio station, have transcoded the Friends in art showcase of
talent into the best and newest streaming formats. This is done to showcase
what new technology not used by ACB Radio does, and enables people in the
median between true broadband and modem connections (satelite subscribers,
users of Australia's bigpond ISP, etc) to listen to the FIA stream in as
full quality as can be gotten out of 64 KbPS, generally using formats that
ACB Radio probably considers experimental. Once Again this year, we will be
using AACPlus. Information about the format is below.
The stream will start and end with ACB Radio Interactive's coverage, of
which documentation has been sent. At 0:45 PM GMT (8 PM EDT, 7:45 PM CDT,
etc,) paste this URL into the player of your choice:

To listen to AACPlus, there are several players that can be used. Users
of winamp (http://www.winamp.com) 5.1 or greater and Foobar2000
(http://www.foobar2000.org) already have AACPlus support. Those who listen
with Real Player are left undecided, as I've heard various things on the
state of real player from "it doesn't work" to "oh it works, but it's mono."
For the innumerable folks who use Windows Media Player, a plugin which adds

Convention coverage continues on ACB Radio

The Tuesday business session is over, but there's plenty more coverage today
on ACB Radio. We've already begun repeating this morning's session on ACB
Radio Mainstream. The program is just over 4 and a half hours, so the
approximate repeat times for the rest of today are:

Of course, the last one will not complete before our Wednesday coverage

We are sincerely hoping you are enjoying the convention coverage. The

2007 ACB Convention Update: Monday Session Replays

Replays of Monday's session at the ACB Convention will begin at 17:30 GMT,
that's 12:30 pm US central time. The file for today is 4 hours long, which
means that subsequent airings will begin at approximately 21:30, 01:30,
05:30 and 09:30 GMT, which is 4:30 pm, 8:30 pm, 12:30 am and 4:30 am US
Central time. The last one will almost complete before our live coverage
resumes at 8:15 am local time (13:15 GMT).

ACB Convention coverage to start this evening on ACB Radio Mainstream

It's time once again to join the delegates, movers and shakers at this
year's ACB Convention held in Minnesota. Our coverage gets underway at 6:30
pm US Central time, which is 23:30 GMT. The proceedings are expected to get
underway at 7 pm, with the usual first-evening formalities. Our live
coverage will run for a few hours, and then will repeat until the Monday
morning session gets underway.

We plan to start our daily coverage from 8:15 am local time (13:15 GMT). We
will broadcast all the business sessions, which are on each morning of the
convention as well as Friday afternoon.

We also plan to broadcast the Candidates Forum on Thursday evening and the
Banquet on Friday evening, and the Interactive team plan on bringing us the
thrills and spills of the Friends in Art Showcase on Tuesday evening ... but
more about those later.

We will have replays every day when we're not on live. We will also make
sessions available for download from our on-demand archive, and I also
understand that we'll be having a podcast feed for convention sessions this
year (expect a post from our web team about that).

Note: This is a live event, and things regularly go wrong and are also
subject to change at short notice. We will keep you informed of any last
minute changes as they come to hand.

The broadcasts from the exhibit hall of the 2007 ACB Convention will take place at the following times on ACB Radio Interactive:
