1lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
1/2lb bulk Italian pork sausage
1/2cup Progresso Italian style bread crumbs
1/2cup chopped onion
1package (3 oz) cream cheese, softened
1 egg, beaten
2cups chunky tomato pasta sauce
Green olive slices, sweet peas (heated), sliced ripe olives, shoestring
potato pieces, sliced almonds and curly fries
1. Heat oven to 350°F.
2. In a large bowl, mix beef, sausage, bread crumbs, onion, milk,
salt, cream cheese and egg. Divide into 6 equal portions; shape into 4-inch
oval loaves. Pinch 1 end of each oval to a point for rats face. Place in
ungreased 13x9-inch glass baking dish. Gently pour pasta sauce over and
3. Garnish with green olives and peas for eyes, sliced ripe olive for a
nose, shoestring potato pieces for whiskers, sliced almonds for teeth and
curly fries for tails.
If you don't have Italian sausage, use ground beef, and add Italian
seasoning to the meat mixture.
In place of the shoestring potatoes, use pieces of broken spaghetti noodles
for the whiskers. Make sure they are covered by the sauce so they don't dry
out during baking.
