Yes.  You will not be able to repartition your disk this way, however.  When Windows is installed, you can burrow around and delete all the old directories just as you could in Windows 7 and Vista.  Or wait 30 days and it occurs automatically.

Note also that there are two kinds of end-user licence for Windows 8: Upgrade and System Builder.  If you are using the upgrade media, and this is the only option available from Microsoft retail at the moment (you can recognise it by the lower price tag), then you must ensure that a copy of Windows 7, Vista or XP are on the hard disk even if you start up from the media.  As long as the PXE detects an existing copy of Windows you can repartition and reformat your disk.  But without speech; sorry.
